Football; the beautiful game. Every year, British football fans spend an average of £21.49 on match day tickets, with over 20 million people tuning in to watch the 2014 World Cup.
Football isn’t just a game, though. Each year, football clubs contribute millions of pounds to the UK economy and are each businesses in their own right. Clubs are regularly assessed based on their goal scoring ability and league points, but rarely do we step back and analyse their business credentials – until now.
Using data from Companies House, which is regularly submitted by the clubs themselves, Company Check has been able to update the four UK leagues to show the business credentials of each of the 92 clubs – including turnover, wages and salaries, cash and assets. This data has been used to calculate a cost-per-goal and turnover-per-goal too.
You can also use our raw data to make your own comparisons and better understand the business of football.
